STORY
Christopher M. Aboy, owner of T.A.G. Muay Thai, a Martial Arts Gym in Northern Virginia, has gone through a lot of training equipment and gear. Because he has many pictures and videos made in his gym, he likes to have uniformity and professionalism throughout his gym, in everything from leather boxing gloves to the shorts and shirts his trainers and students wear.
Since 2010, Chris has been on a quest to find the best equipment at the best prices from numerous manufacturers around the world.
Originally branding his equipment “TAG Strikegear” in 2013, he rebranded his gear to “Chok” back in 2019 to give it a refreshed and updated look and to blend with his TAG Muay Thai gear. In Thai, Chok means “to punch”—that’s where the name Chok came from.
He likes the word Chok because it’s a strong, one-syllable word that is simple and stylish, like the design he chose to accompany the name.
Even though “Chok” means “to punch,” which aligns well with Muay Thai and other martial arts, Chris wanted to think outside the box. He didn’t want to limit his Muay Thai brand just to the Muay Thai community; he wanted to offer it to athletes in any sport.
